Our History

Founded in 1989, CLEAN Choice Cleaning & Restoration is a family-owned and -operated company that is dedicated to providing our community with the best rug and carpet cleaning services around. This all started when Keith and Tammy Bowles were working in the cleaning industry, and they quickly realized that the local carpet and rug cleaning companies weren’t cutting it. Poor customer service, non-transparent pricing, and shoddy results seemed to be the standard, and these other companies weren’t implementing green practices. Keith and Tammy knew they could do it better, and thus CLEAN Choice was born. Starting in their basement, the hard work and dedication that Keith and Tammy put into the business allowed it to quickly grow. Together they made a strong team, as Keith is an IICRC Certified Journeyman with over 30 years of experience in the rug and carpet cleaning industry, while Tammy has an extensive background in customer service that equipped her with strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills. The combination of extensive rug cleaning knowledge, excellent customer service, and strong management skills allowed CLEAN Choice to grow from a small business into the state-of-the-art rug cleaning and operation facility, located at 7391 Washington Blvd. Suite #105, Elkridge, MD 21075. 

Over the past 30 years, CLEAN Choice has continued to be a family-operated company. Keith still serves as our Operations Manager and Chief Executive Officer, and Tammy runs our Accounts Receivable office. In 2006, Keith and Tammy’s daughter Ashley started working at the company part-time while in high school, transferring to full-time when she started college. In 2013, Ashley earned her business degree, allowing her to bring a level of expertise in running the day-to-day operations. By 2015, Ashley had worked her way up to being the Office Manager, overseeing CLEAN Choice’s day-to-day operations.

In 2016, Ashley married her husband Tim Parks, who now serves as CLEAN Choice’s Master Rug Cleaner. Currently a Certified Master Rug Cleaner and IICRC Journey Man, Tim had started out in the rug cleaning industry as a junior rug cleaner for Cunningham’s Rug Cleaning back in 2010; working his way up to Master Rug Cleaner by 2014, specializing in cleaning high-end Oriental Rugs, pet damage, and specialty repairs. After he and Ashley were married, Tim joined the CLEAN Choice team in 2017, bringing his specialized skills and certifications with him to operate the Rug Cleaning Plant. This allowed CLEAN Choice to clean high-end Oriental and area rugs in-plant and offer area rug repairs, dyeing, moth treatment and prevention, fringe replacement, and many other high-end rug services.

Today, CLEAN Choice continues to grow while never losing sight of the values that make our company stand above the rest while providing the best possible customer service. With Ashley and Tim becoming partners in the business in 2018, they are set to take over running the business and continuing to serve our community for decades to come.
