That being said, we follow the eight-step rug cleaning process below because we find that this general framework produces the best rug cleaning results for our customers.

Our Eight Step Purified Water Rug Washing System
Step 1: Free Pick Up and Pre-Inspection
We will determine as much as possible about the type of rug and it’s inherent qualities that may affect the rug washing. We then outline the expected results and thorough rug cleaning “prescription”. CLEAN Choice will come to your home to pick up your oriental area rug, or you may drop it by our conveniently located rug washing plant in the Baltimore Washington Commerce Park on US 1 in Elkridge, MD., 1/2 mile south of Rt 100
Step 2: Dry Soil Removal
We use a variety of dry soil removal techniques, including our new, state-of-the-art RugBadger. We also use compressed air, special vacuum attachments, and a pile lifter to remove dry soil from your rugs.
Step 3: Pre-Condition
Depending on the area rugs fiber content, level of soil, and soiling type, the fine rug will be pre-treated to emulsify the dry soils.
Step 4: Fringe Preparation, Pre-Spotting, & Odor Removal
Any potentially difficult spots, stains, or pet urine sites will be pre-treated with special green rug cleaning solutions to increase ensure complete removal. The fringe will also be pre-treated for maximum soil removal.
Step 5: Rug Washing using Purified Rinse Water
In the rug weaving capitals around the world, handmade rugs are washed by submerging them in flowing rivers fresh water for several hours. Our new and improved purified water rug washtub will thoroughly deep clean your rugs, gently. It consists of water paddle wheels, which mimic the gentle motion of river and hand washing. Dry soil and odors are effectively removed by the turbulent but gentle flow of the purified wash water without the use of abrasive brushes or other mechanical devices that could damage the delicate rug fibers. Our purified water rug washing solutions not only provide the most thorough eco-friendly rug cleaning, but they ensure that dye transfer or cross-contamination is impossible during the rug washing process.
Step 6: Centrifuge Rug-Wringer
We use the most advanced centrifuge rug-wringer in the world. Using a combination of centrifugal force, effective chemistry, and purified water irrigation, soil and contaminants are thoroughly flushed out of the rugs better than any other method! It removes over 95% of moisture from rugs in 3 minutes or less. Area rugs with any particularly stubborn contaminants, such as pet urine odor, are submerged for an extended period of time to guarantee their complete removal.
Step 7: Controlled Dry and Post Detailing
Achieving an efficient and fast drying method is critical as rugs can mildew and mold if saturated for too long of periods of time. Once we remove the rug from the centrifuge, controlled rug drying takes place in our heated rug dry room using a combination of hanging racks, air circulation, dehumidifying processes, and heat. Here, the rugs are allowed to dry for 24 to 48 hours. When the rug is dry, it is finished and combed with soft groomers made for specialty rugs. Post detailing involves restoring all fringes using a specially designed tool.
Step 8: Post Cleaning Inspection and Delivery
Our Master rug cleaning manager will give the rug a final inspection and then release it for either delivery or pick up. Your fine rugs will then be delivered or are ready for you to up at our plant. Upon delivery, we will re-lay the rug for you.

“Clean Choice has cleaned the carpets in two of my houses and I have been amazed at how great they look. The carpets, both over 10 years old, look brand new. I was sure I was going to have to replace them but decided to try and have them cleaned first and I am so glad I did. Keith is extremely passionate about his job and very dedicated to providing the best service possible. I have already referred them to several of my friends and will continue to do so in the future.”Elizabeth Bare in Columbia, MD
